1. Utilize Your Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans are a great way to create air flow in your home, keep cool and save on your energy bill. Especially in the later half of spring when temperatures are starting to rise but also aren’t too unbearable, the ceiling fan will be your best friend. You can feel about 5 degrees cooler with a ceiling fan running and since it only uses 60 watts of energy as opposed to the 3500 watts an AC unit uses, you’ll save on your utility bill as well.

Pro Tip: Ceiling fans have a clockwise and counterclockwise setting that are appropriate for different seasons. If you sand directly beneath your fan and immediately feel a breeze, then your ceiling fan is ready for summer. 

2. Open the Windows

It’s simple, I know. But when that cool spring air comes through your windows, you’ll feel refreshed. The simplest things can sometimes be the greatest pleasures. So sit back and take it easy, open the windows and relax. You can turn the AC down, save on your utility bills and stay cool. 

3. Get a Box Fan

Yep, box fans. You may be someone who uses a box fan regularly to help you sleep at night, but if not, this may be the summer you become a fan of the box fan. To make sure it’s being as effective as it should, make sure to rotate the fan based on the outdoor temperatures. If it’s cooler outside then the fan should be blowing into your room, but if it’s hotter outside, then it should be facing the outside so it can blow the hot air out.
